Local farmers are about to rehabilitate around 410 hectares of degraded lands within the area of Meru Betiri National Park in Jember, East Java, through Agroforestry and Environmental Service development. Each hectare will be planted with 400 forest treeseedlings of conservation benefits and high economic values. This programme will be carried out in stages. In the long term, 7,000 farmer households joining Farmer Group Network for Rehabilitation (JAKET- RESI) already planned to rehabilitate the entire national park rehabilitation zone, which is 2,733.5 hectares. Purpose and Objective • To conserve degraded lands in Meru Betiri Na- tional Park by means of community based-agro-forestry model to improve the biodiversity and environmental service. This way, the national park will be directly protected by the community against deforestation and degradation in order to increase the carbon stock and improve the com- munity prosperity. • Community members joining JAKETRESI farmer group from Curahnongko Village can manage 410 hectares of Meru Betiri National Park rehabilita- tion zone, as well as rehabilitate the ecosystem and use the environmental services.
